Universal Telecom Safety Protocols
These rules apply to all cleaning operations at all telecom facilities.
- No disruption to network operations
- No liquid exposure near telecom equipment
- No unplugging, moving, or touching equipment
- No cleaning inside cabinets, racks, vaults, or energized enclosures
- All work performed around equipment only, not on equipment
- Use only non-corrosive, non-conductive, non-residue-forming products suitable for conditioned telecom environments
Telecom Risk Rating Key
Non-hazardous at use dilution, low residue, non-corrosive, no strong solvents, no aerosols near electronics.
Concentrate classified as irritant or requires eye protection, but acceptable with controlled dilution, controlled application, and no aerosolization near equipment.
Corrosive, strong acid/alkali, flammable/combustible concentrates, or products that create meaningful telecom contamination risk. Should be avoided near equipment and only allowed in restrooms or non-equipment areas with explicit controls.
Approved Chemicals (6)

AHP disinfectant cleaner — preferred where residue and odor control matter
Apply to cloth only, do not spray near equipment. Use only on high-touch surfaces away from telecom equipment.
Safety glasses, chemical-resistant gloves at concentrate. At use-dilution, gloves recommended.
1:128 for general cleaning, 1:16 for disinfection (5-minute contact time)
Apply to cloth, not sprayed — wipe high-touch surfaces. Do not aerosolize near equipment.

Quat disinfectant cleaner for restrooms and high-touch — concentrate is more hazardous than Oxivir
Allowed only in non-equipment zones like restrooms and breakrooms, applied to cloth not sprayed near equipment.
Chemical splash goggles, face shield, chemical-resistant gloves, protective apron at concentrate. Standard gloves at use-dilution.
1:256 for disinfection (10-minute contact time)
Apply to cloth in restrooms and breakrooms only. Never spray. Never use in equipment areas.

Non-ammoniated glass and hard surface cleaner — lower odor, safer in mixed environments
For entry glass only in equipment environments. Apply to cloth, not sprayed near equipment.
Safety glasses at concentrate. Gloves recommended.
Ready-to-use or per label dilution
Apply to cloth for glass surfaces. In equipment areas, use on entry glass only — applied to cloth, not sprayed.

Neutral floor cleaner for routine damp mopping in office areas
For controlled damp mop in non-equipment edges only. No wet mopping in equipment rooms.
No special PPE required at use-dilution.
1:128 per label instructions
Damp mop application. In equipment environments, controlled damp mop on non-equipment floor edges only.

Non-acid restroom fixture cleaner — avoids acid chemistry around facilities
Restroom use only. Never use near telecom equipment.
Safety glasses, chemical-resistant gloves.
Ready-to-use. Apply directly to fixture surfaces.
Apply under rim and to fixture surfaces. Allow contact time per label. Restroom use only.

Carpet extraction rinse for periodic carpet care in office areas
Office areas only, not in equipment rooms. Periodic use only — not part of routine cleaning.
Safety glasses, chemical-resistant gloves at concentrate.
Per label dilution for carpet extraction equipment
Used with carpet extraction equipment in office areas only. Not for use in equipment rooms.
Approved Equipment (5)

Commercial-grade HEPA dry vacuum — reduces particulate risk in conditioned telecom environments
HEPA filtration required in all telecom equipment areas. Standard vacuum is not acceptable.
No special PPE required. Follow standard equipment operation procedures.
Dry vacuum floors around equipment racks and cable runs. Do not contact equipment.

Low-lint, controlled-moisture cleaning system — no aerosol risk
Use damp (not wet) microfiber only in equipment areas. No dripping moisture.
No special PPE required.
Damp wipe surfaces. Use flat mop heads for controlled-moisture floor cleaning. Launder after each use.

Reduced-splash mop system for better liquid control
Any mop system introduces liquid risk. Use only in office, restroom, and common areas — never in equipment rooms.
Non-slip footwear recommended. Use wet floor signs.
Fill with appropriate cleaning solution. Wring mop thoroughly. Use only in non-equipment areas.

Controlled glass cleaning without overspray
Use for glass cleaning only. Controlled application prevents overspray near equipment.
No special PPE required.
Apply glass cleaner to cloth or directly to glass, then squeegee. No overspray near equipment.

Safety compliance and reduced slip incidents
Place at all wet mopping locations. Required for OSHA compliance.
N/A
Place before mopping, remove when floor is dry.
